Quote: makes other pistols besides the 1911's.
But... who would want anything besides a 1911?

Zombie, is that your gun or a picture you found? How do you like it? I would consider the XD as an alternative to a Glock and at some point in time I may want to try a polymer pistol.

Nope, that's mine. I've had it about a year now. I really haven't had time to show it the love it deserves but I've been pretty impressed with it so far. I haven't had any of the rust problems that seemed to plauge the earlier XD's. The pistol is kind of a blend of Sig and Glock. The ergonomics are great. The mag's a little expensive with $29 being the average. The mag springs, at least on the .40, are still as hell at first as was the mag release at first but both will break in with use. Holster selection with the 5" Tactical is a little limited, especially if you plan on running a light. I paid $469 new for mine and feel I got quite a bit of gun for the money.

I have the XD-40 Tactical also and agree that finding good holsters are a bit of a problem, especially one for duty. Safariland is about it unless one wishes to go custom or nearly so. I like mine and it is my primary bedside weapon and a "back up" for my duty gun until I can get at least a Level 2 retension holster for it. The local supply house does not carry the Tactical holster and I had to order mine. I got mags from CDNN Investments for $20 each which was a pretty good deal. I'm currently looking at a used standard model which would also fit my old Sigma holster. For only $350 it looks like a good deal but it is a bit close to Christmas for right now. In a week or so if it is still there and I'm done shopping, maybe....

I have an XD-9 Tactical that I am very well pleased with. I used to be a 1911-only guy, but the XD has convinced me (reluctantly at first, now with enthusiasm) that there are viable alternatives.

I just picked up an XD-40 Service to go with my Tactical. I got a good price on it and it will be replacing a S&W Sigma as my second duty gun. Now I'll be able to trade the Sigma for a Rem 700 ADL in .223 I've had my eye on, I think I'll even be able to trade straight up for it. I may even look at trading off my .45 ACP Springfield Ultra Carry as it isn't much smaller than the Service model and we can no longer carry single action pistols for duty. It is one of my favorite handguns but I'm getting to the point that I can't shoot them all and I want something else as usual.

I have the service and the thing I really liked about it is the smaller grip with the right angle for my nature point of aim.
I want to get the tactical next.

I have the 45 compact and LOVE it. It's way better to carry than my 1911. I find it way easier to shoot than any of the Glocks I have messed with.
It's a very practical pistol, and a LOT of bang for your buck.
