Im looking to buy 1911 45.acp and i have been to the range with both kimber and springfield. I have found a great deal on a rock island but i have never fired a rock island or know anyone who has. i understand that its a cheaper made gun (according to friends of mine). any info about the quality of the gun or mabey even pros and cons to the gun would help. thanks in advance

Robbie,
If you have the cash for a Springfield or even a Kimber, go for it because they are better quality pistols. However if like me cash on hand dictates many buying choices, you won't go too wrong with the RIA. They have excellent customer service right here in the states and if there is ever a problem they will certainly take care of it for you. You might also want to look at the Auto-Ordnance 1911 which can be had for $489 and Para USA 1911 G.I. Expert for about $505.
