I bought a Used Lee Pro 1000 and have a few questions.

1. There is a "V" shaped wire that is attached to the case carrier that seems to do nothing. It comes from the carrier in the front near the front verticle support. Anyone have an idea what this does or how it is supposed to work?

2. Where can I find a good exploded view and parts listing? I looked on the Lee site and came up empty.

dr: Are you referring to the Z-bar? About an 1/8" in diameter that goes from a little spring loaded plate at the top of the right hand support to the sliding ram that moves the case onto the shellplate? If that is what you mean, it is the connection that moves the shell ram back and forth. Take it off and the press won't load cases automatically. If that is not it then, I cannot find what you mean on my press.
There is a not so great picture with identifiers as part of the Instructions available at the Lee site. It's not a real schematic. There is a parts list there.

Not the Z bar. This spring is just in front of the bar and attached to the shell case carrier area. It does not turn with anything, but goes up/down with the carrier.

DR: Hmmm. The only visible spring on mine is the Z-bar Attach spring(Part #TR2455)which loads the Z-bar Attach plate(TR2454) to which one end of the Z-bar is inserted; the other end of the Z-bar attaches to the case slider (TR 2449B). This spring is at the top of the right front support column. It is the only spring listed in the parts diagram.
There is a small v-shaped piece of spring wire on the back of the press on the bottom of the shell carrier that secures one end of the case sensor but it is not easily visible. For you to see it, the shell carrier assembly would have to be installed backwards...which is possible.
What is your spring attached to? Which side of the press? Front or back?
Or... have you found the answer?
Pete
