Hey I don't really have a problem with it, but it might be more comforting to some to skate around the fact of a minor in possession of a handgun.

On a lighter note - it sounds pretty awesome! I started handgun shooting on a ruger .22 revolver. I remember the first time trying to fan the gun with a leather glove on my left hand. It sounded and felt really awesome, but was a little dissapointing when I realized I didn't even hit the target. At least you'll get a few more shots off with that ten shooter!

    Adios amigo and have fun.

yea fanning is cool cuz when i used to own my cap n ball revolver i used to load up all 6 chambers n fire away until i learned of the dangers of chain firing ans then stopped loadin all 6 at once :(

I have a S&W 617 in a 4inch barrel..one of my favorite handguns. Shoot it more than all the others combined!! 10 shot model is nice because more shooting between reloading!

it would be cool if i could get a speedloader for it to make reloads quicker  what does kinda suck bout the gun is that i dry fired it a few times in DA mode and it has a hard trigger pull :( i thought all s&w DA revolvers had light trigger pulls

yeah 15 to 16 year olds caught with pistol no adult around that is over 21 means you may not be able to ever own a gun legally again at your age i stuck with my benjamin sheridan rifle that i still shoot it to this day actually i shot a magpie with it last night just cool your jets till your legal and quit insulting people i also shot my shotgun with a 26'' barrel and my .22 but i also had gone through hunter safety so i could shoot these without adult supervision but this was in washington state and mind you they were my dads anyway good luck and listen moe than you talk you might learn something

I have a pair of 617's, both 10 shot, one 4" and one 6". These are great guns. New there is hardly any price difference in price between the 6 shot and 10 shot but Used there is quite a bit of diff. I bought mine to teach the wife and kids how to properly handle a revolver. These are almost an exact copy of the Smith 686.

I have a 617 6" 10 shot, it is one of the finest 22 revolvers I have ever fired, I would never get rid of it. I just bought my wife a 686 4" and it is really like the 617. I bought the 617 to get back to the basics of pistol shooting, double action target shooting no rest.

    Hi
I Picked up this New In Box 617 with a 6 shot cylinder as the Gun shop owner shared with me no one wanted it. I have several K-22's and expected the same style of performance out of the 617. I was Mildly disturbed as this 617 did not group as well as my other K-22's so I set out to find out Why ? What I found was the Internal barrel Bore was Rough in Nature, so I used some JB Bore Paste, and it smoothed the lands and Rifling in the bore. It came around and shot as well as my other K-22's the very next range trip. I also did not like the looks of the finish or the factory grips, so I Polished it up a bit and installed a set of Eagle Coke Profile conversion grips of which the quality was Lower than I expected, so I re-worked the profile making the Palm swell more evident and then installed a set of factory pre-War Emblems in them. I prefer the 6 shot over the Ten shot models as I all ready have speed loaders for my older K-22's that work with it, and I am less prone to waste more ammo due to the six round configuration of it. Here is what it Mine looks like Now... Hammerdown

I sure love mine. I have a 6" 17 and a 6" 617 with a scope. The 617 has taken more tree rats than any other gun I own. They are both very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. As far as .22 revolvers go, I also have a 4" SP101 and a 6" Bisley. There is one semi-auto, a S&W 2206 that is just as accurate as the 617!

Hammerdown, that is a beautiful gun!

    Hello Bill
I Picked up a nice 422 that appeared barely fired this early spring at a gun show for $200.00 shown below. I brought it home and gave it to my wife, as she was a little sore at me for Trading off a 2206 I had that she claimed she really liked. She Likes this one even more... Hammerdown

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what did you trade the 2206 for?
