I inherited this gun from my fathers estate and want to know the year it was made and a value so it can be sold. 6inch barrel Very shiny bluing Inside numbers are K369249 MOD-48. There isn't a scratch on this thing..I would say it is excellent or better than excellent condition..theres no box or paperwork..just the gun

22 M.R.F. CTG. on the right side of barrel and SMITH & WESSON on the left side of barrel.

Stamp on right side plate reads:
    MADE IN U.S.A.
    MARCUS REGISTRADAS
    SMITH & WESSON
    SPRINGFIELD, MASS.

Smith & Wesson decorative stamp on right side plate.. 2 screws on right side plate..

The wood on the handle is smooth not textured or formed

Any help wold be so greatly appreciated

    Thanks, Annie

Hello annie, Welcome to the forum.

I'm no help as I know nothing about the S&W MRF handguns.

BUT, take a look at gunbroker.com and do a search for it and see what they are going for/asking for.

If you have a couple of good photos I'll be glad to post them for you...photos get much better response.

There is also a Smith & Wesson forum - http://smith-wessonforum.com/forum.php - where you should be able to get a more informed response.

I want you to get all the money possible that the gun is worth.

    Gun luck... :)

    ps

    Does it look like this?

No. it does not look like that. That wood on my gun in not textured...smooth wood. I have photos of the gun but PistolWorld .com says the format of my photos is too large.

Okay. You can download a tool called PIXresizer that will let you (easy to use) re-size your photos to any size you wish. If you already have an on-line photo account (photobucket.com) go for it.

If not you can email them to me and I will upload them here for you.

I sent you a PM with my email in it.
