BB&T Bank Anti-Gun

BB&T bank does not allow anybody to carry a handgun lawfully in their banks. Not even off duty law enforcement officers! I found this out yesterday after I saw a no handgun sign on their door. I called the home office toll free number listed on the door & was told this was the bank's policy.

That is not really surprizing, I can kind of understand their policy. just like you are not allowed to carry in a Govt buliding.

A company's policy & a state law governing where you can & can't carry is two different things. A company has the right to post if they don't want anyone carrying. In my opinion that makes them anti-gun as they are restricting my right of lawfull carry.
I don't have a account with them, but I'm taking care of another that does. This bank has just lost a long time customer because they don't like their policy no more than I do. A small hassle to move these accounts, but the bank that will be getting these acounts wants us & has no policy against lawful carry. Plus they've been a long time sponsor of our Friends Of NRA Banquet.
The rationale behind these private property bans is rediculous. They claim its to ensure the safety of their employees and customers. Can you really imagine a hardcore criminal saying,"Well, I was gonna go in that bank, rob it and kill all the witnesses. But, I can't carry a gun in there, so I better not, I might get in trouble." Criminals don't follow the law, thats what makes them criminals. Do you really think they will follow the propety owners rules. Law abiding citizens carrying legally owned firearms could actually intervene and save lives in a violent encounter. Its best left to the police, but they aren't always there. My bank doesn't have anything posted about firearms, so I carry when I go in. As a matter of fact I have never seen any bank around my area post a no firearms sign. I'm sure its only a matter of time. There was a furniture store, Value City Furniture, that had such a sign, but they are out of business.
Ya, but do the bad guys give a wit or care about the banks silly rules..??
