That is what I've always done while checking for the typical signs of high pressure along the way. As a check to the common suggestions, I also compare my velocities by shooting across a chrononmeter and stop increasing the powder charge when I either reach the same velocity as with the previous components or reach maximum listed charge. I also measure the fired cases for excessive expansion, I can't recall off hand but it is only a couple of thousanths from unfired when problems can occur.
