Today I was thinking about the Five Seven handgun and that there is legislation in the works to ban this particular model. That won't happen because it is not armor piercing but this alone makes me consider buying one. (to spite THEM!) I was wondering if anyone knew where to get ammo. I haven't seen any locally and several of the websites I frequent don't carry it (including JGSales). This would definately be a "conditional buy" in my future but not if ammo is near impossible to find. Has anyone seen 5.7 on store shelves?

This could make a good bowling pin gun!

I was hoping to find it in a store instead of online because online is more money after shipping a decent sized order. I'm sure it won't be available "remanufactured" for quite some time if at all and I was wondering if other regions of the country had 5.7 in stores.

FN 5.7X28 HORNADY Red Tip V-MAX "SS196" 5.7X28 50 40gr $32.00

That's about $20 too much for 15 minutes of range time. :(
Maybe I should find better ways to spend my money.

I went to a local gun show this sunday and saw three FN Five Sevens for sale. That is more then I have seen in two years! One of the dealers told me that there were a few companies that were going to start manufacturing the ammo stateside which will bring the price down. Right now there is an import tax and transportation costs which bring the price to about $25 a box. If the ammo gets affordable I will seriously look at buying this gun.

I got to hold the gun and ammo. Impressive to say the least. If I only had that type of spare change. Even at the time I felt that the gun and ammo would be short lived and worthy of possible investment.
I hope it stays around and only gets cheaper in cost...
