The USP is a great pistol. I am not aware of any "bad" guns from H&K. They made an odd squeeze cocking P7 that is out of the ordinary, but still very high quality and desirable. If your old shotgun that you don't shoot anymore is worth less than $400 or so, then go for it. You never said what your shotgun was or what condition this H&K USP is in, so its hard to say. I wouldn't go trading a Winchester Model 12 or a high dollar O/U. But a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 might be a good trade. I have a USP .40 S&W full size. Pilots licensed to carry in flight by the Department of Homeland Security use H&K USP Compacts in .40 S&W. They are solid guns made in Germany by a highly reputable manufacturer.
