what is ur favorite type of finish to have on a handgun?

i myself love stainless finishes but if i was to hunt with a handgun then i would definatly get it in blue to avoid any glare from the sun

btw i saw an awsome looking colt anaconda with a camo finish and wonder if any other gun makers do that

I have the SA 1911A1 MilSpec and love the finish. If it can't be parkerized then blued is best, IMHO. By the way... I'm picking up a very mint Colt Commander in .38 Super on the 30th! :D

As for the SA 1911... I intend to replace the grips with a pair of Chip's slimline, checkered cocabolo grips.

I've never been a fan of stainless steel had a rather bad early experience with a stainless 1911 clone that galded and I ended up sending it down the road. I've always liked the hard chrome that Colt used to use kind of had a matte finish. Lot of guys I see think by having the stainless gun gets them off the hook of breakdown and clean after use which as we know couldn't be farther from the case.

I'm just a matte guy - pretty boring. I still like to browse around and look at the beautiful finishes of other guns, but for me it's kind of like buying a Ferrari. Sure yellow might be flashy and catch people's attention, and of course it does look mightly fine on a f355, but on my 550 I'm content with the slightly boring silver.
My HK is kind of like that I guess, but unfortunately:
-Doesn't pick up chicks (except ones from trailer parks)
-Can't get me to work
-and; definately won't get me into a nice club, unless I unlawfully use it... haha!

I love the look of Nickel Plating but can't stand the constant polishing to remove all the finger prints it collects. Then there's Stainless which can almost look as good as Nickel and is easier to remove finger prints from. Parkerized finishes only look good on military firearms. Blueing however will always have a special place in my old school heart, got to love that classic look 8)

In a factory finish, I prefer stainless steel. I restore alot of older "beaters", just because I enjoy it..!! I do them in KG Coatings "spray and bake". finishes. Use any of about a dozen different colors and sheens. The combinations are endless and look great on older 1911's.
