The serial number is BHY7580. I just want to know what model it is.
Thanks for any help. Here is a pic.

If you open the cylinder, the model number and engineering change will be stamped on the frame just above the hinge.

The revolver appears to be stainless. If so, it's a model 686.

If it is blued, it's a 586.

you have a 586.

i forget the name they call them, but it has the 4 position adjustable front sight. iirc, for silhouette shooting?

iac, they made them iirc, in the 4, 6 which you have and 8 inch barrels.

You have a S&W 586 target pistol. If you hit the S&W web site you can down load the owners manual. I have one of these pistols and it is a truly nice pistol to shoot and own. Keep it in good condition (as it appears to be) and it will only go up in value over the years. A truly nice pistol to have for fun, target shooting and for home defense. Pretty hard to find a better 357 with the barrel length, The stainless steel model would be the only exception.

Enjoy, it's a sweet pistol
