Could somebody give me the link to a site that shows how to properly disassemble and clean the P226?

Ran a search and found something. I hope it's what you're looking for; I skimmed the glossary and saw "disassembly", "proper care", and "ammunition" (might have something to do with recommended ammunition.)

Anyways, it looks to be the official manual. If it is, download it. The link isn't from Sauer, and what if you need to read it again and gunshowonthenet has gone down?

Drop me a note if you can't find anything online - and I can look in my manual for the P 226 - or fax you some pages or soemthing. But it's real easy ... remove the mag, make sure the guns empty, cock the hammer, lock the slide back, rotate the lock (on left side ) forward of the slide lock lever, release the slide, remove the slide from the frame by pushing it forward.
Turn the slide over - remove the guide rod and spring by pushing forward at the back of the guide rod ( hold it firmly ) and lift it up and back to remove (it's under tension ). Then remove the barrel. Clean slide and barrel. Remove the stocks - clean under and around them - and reassemble.
Removing the firing pin, extractor is a little more work - but only needs to be done about every 1,000 rounds or so (and some guys never do it).

There is a DVD avalible at Brownells.com that covers the P series Sig Sauer pistols

I know this thread is ancient, but this is a good video from You Tube. Bill T.
