I just read an ad about the new (to me) Winchester .22 Varming HE round with the segmenting hollow point bullet. It say it reaches a "scorching velocity of 1435 fps." While I realize a .22 round is not adequate for self-protection in general, I'm wondering if loading up my Walther PP with this ammo might give me that extra power if I should have to deal with an aggressive coyote while taking a walk in the woods. Would be interested in hearing people's experiences with this round and whether it might be too much for an older type semi-auto.

Winchester .22 is a good rifle, i also have one. It is perfect rifle for hunting, having good accuracy and reliable.
