Hello,
I have inherited my father’s .22 LR Beretta 70 (or 71) pistol. I’m having an issue with the slide not locking into place. The Slide lock will not turn clockwise to keep the slide from moving to far forward. When the gun is fired, the slide moves a few centimeters forward causing the gun not to fire. By simply sliding the slide back, it fires.
I cannot figure out why the slide lock will release, but not allow me to reassemble and push the slide to align with the notch to slide the lock into the engaged position.
I hope I am describing this accurately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure the manual will give him an answer to his problem with the .22 LR Baretta which he has inherited from his father – he sure must have a lot of sentimental value for it, so all the more reason that the problem be overcome!! Sure that it must be some simple technical problem that can be fixed easily!!
