Okay so where are all the Makarov owners at. C'mon, I know your out there. I have a Hungarian PA-63 (yeah I know not a true Makarov) Besides the trouble finding ammo localy, I love that little bugger. Thinking of picking up a Bulgarian, wanted to see if anyone had experience w/ them, good or bad.

I'm not a Makarov owner but I am a Makarov lover. If you have ammo troubles you can order a conversion barrel that drops in with no hassel and changes your standard 9x18 to .380. Look in any Shotgun News and you should find the ad somewhere towards the back from a place called The Dealer Warehouse. Going rate for a barrel is about $50, but it makes finding ammo easier :D

I am a Makarov owner...Mine is from E Germany, and am told that it is of better quality than Russian made. I have taken it to the range and it shoots well for it's intended purpose. It took some time to find this weapon, and really stumbled upon it at my local Gander Mt. The tag said Russian Makarov, but upon closer inspection the markings lead me to it's E German manufacture 1961. Great little gun for the money, and no problem finding ammo for it, including Hornady hollow points!

Most Mak info I have found is here http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

I have 2 Bulgys and 1 Miltex Bulgy and I like 'em too!

Mine's E. German. Fine little pistol. Kinda underpowered, but I'm used to playing with .357s, .44 mags, and .45 Colts.

New guy here to forum. I'm a Makarov fan. Had a large number of them and came down with "gun-snob-itis" and got rid of them. Some years later now, I get up everymorning and kick myself for that. I'm on a 12 step program of replacing them and have started with my current East German.

There seems to be more ammo avail for them now than ever before and that's good, but, ammo costs more nowdays and that's an understatement regarding the price of Maks. I remember the new $99 Mak and now I say a Russian Military for $600. WOW!

Welcome 9Mak

..have a couple myself.

A circle 10 and an unfired Commercial Russian in 380 w/ the desirable 12 round hi-cap mag.

If you shoot a lot, ya just gotta reload.

I cast for the 9mm Mak 9x18 although I don't take it out much more. But I can reload this round for .04 ea. Actually 35.80 per 1k .

Good luck on getting back into the Mak biz....... how times have changed in the last couple yrs for us peasants.

The original post is only 3yrs old now but the little Maks are worthy of being discussed and rescued from the dungeon files.

Mak on :!:

Thanks Bboomer. I'm sitting here looking at my EG made in '61, it's a RUKO import with the history of the world on the right side of the slide. Only the ship it came over in is missing. lol

I'm looking at a couple more EG's but they are not cheap anymore. No more $99 Maks.

What's with no activity with the Maks here?

The guns are still out there, ammo availibility is the best in years and yet, not much action. Maybe I will try to get things going here. I'm trying to do my part for posting.

I don't pay too much attention to ammo prices. I reload for most of what I've got. I'll go out and kick tires every once in a while and get blown away from looking at the commercial ammo prices.

Makarov dot com went belly up several months ago. They used to keep the EG in stock along with some surplus russians. I used to get a few parts here and there from 'em. Was pretty good as I worked close to thier store. They had a lot of surplus parts for about anything you wanted.

Yeah, every once in a while someone would trip over this thread and make comment but it mostly stays in the cellar.

You have any pics of your EG? Here's a pic of a couple of mine. The circle 10 is in decent shape but not great. Its a real shooter though course, they all are.

As for the little 380 I have the box, tools, paperwork, everything that came with it. I don't know if I'll ever fire it or not. No biggie either way. BTW the ammo that you see with the 380, its actually 9x18 and my cast swc's. By the looks of them you wouldn't think that they would feed. The brass says 9mm Para. They shoot good though. I never had one to fail or hangup.

The CZ's been customized or upgraded. It sure has a sweet trigger.
