Cans can be fun! I also like gallon milk jugs full of water :D

But most of my pistol shooting is done at a indoor range with paper targets.

Mike.
Two liter coke bottles are good to, especially when you tie them up with a string.
At the outdoor range I go to you are only allowed paper targets, however I like the challenge of paper targets anyway so it does not bother me.
I'll do paper targets if I must, but Love those cans, waterjugs. Heck, I'm just addicted, and have problems! I need another pistol!
I like cans and jugs, especialy when i'm using upside down hollow base wadcutters in my .357, it makes cans full of water go boom, and it's cheap!!
The I.D.P.A. targets are fun too, as long as you set them up so that you can move and shoot at the same time.

When i went to school at UGA there was a WMA shooting range nearby and you could bring anything you wanted to shoot. My friends and i would bring stereo equiptment, kegs, cans of soda...almost anything you can think of we shot. Shooting something more responsive that paper is a lot more fun.
When at the local range, they do not allow anything other than paper targets.

So I make my own Walmart-shoot -n-see's
Paper plates. ( $0.88 Walmart brand)
Orange safety paint.( $0.97 no-name bottom shelf brand)
Flat black paint.( $0.97 no-name bottom shelf brand)

Spray plate orange first. Let dry, re-cover in black.
Done!

9" target that tells you where your hitting, 150 Walmart Shoot-N-See's for $2.82..... 8)

That is a good Idea!!

Nothing is more fun than shooting 12",8" and 6" steel plates at a 100yds and beyond.
I am fortunate enough to shoot on a range out to 600 yards.
every section has metal targets that fall, swing, or gong (300-600 yard targets).
My fav is shooting the 3 screw .44 at 300 yards and hearing the target go "whap !" in about 2 seconds after you fire the pistol. 8)
Luv that long range pistol stuff... :D
Steel targets are a blast to shoot. I shoot them in Cowboy Action Shooting, and they make a very adictive CLANG when you hit!

I like targets that can be re-used like metal "tree" targets.

Golf balls are fun to use, but not when your at a shooting range with other people!

can I shoot Golf Balls at the Golf Course??????

Mike.
Skeet Golf...sounds fun
Going to do a little squirrel with the old shotgun this weekend, but I believe I'll pack the pistol...and a few golf balls for after the hunt! :) GREAT idea!

My club's rifle range is paper only. The pistol range has hanging silhouettes, chickens and rams, for the .22s. I usually switch to the rams after getting bored (or frustrated) with the paper.

On the very rare occasions when I shoot "off-range" I like using clay pigeons. I have enough to spare, they're easily seen and react when hit.
I use both,I have access to the cowboy shooting range and the metal targets are a blast but paper gives me an idea of grouping.Drop-Shot
i will shot anything other than paper cuz i need to have some action when i hit a target other than a hole appearing in it so heres a list of things i like to shoot with a handgun:

1.) soda cans filled with water

2.) clay targets hung on nails

3.) steel plates

4.) bowling pins

5.) (ok this is kinda dangerous but great fun) 12 oz. glass beer or soda bottles filled wit kerosene with a burning kerosene soaked rag tied to the top of the bottle

lol well its not as crazy as u think cuz 1st of all we r like 50 feet away n 2nd of all theres nothin flammable around us but hey we use kerosene cuz not only is it cheap but also when we tried using gasoline when we shot it instead of it jus making a huge fireball like we like it actualy exploded n we all felt the heat of it so we never did it again

lol we also had to check our pants
