Just a few pics of my Taurus 608SS4, .357 magnum, 8 shot, 4 inch ported barrel. I have changed out the grips for Pachmayr Decelerator grips which are not in the photos. I love the gun! Shoots great. very little recoil even with heavy .357mag loads.

I didn't realize a reasonably sized revolver could handle .357 with an eight shot cylinder. I WANT ONE!!! :D

Is this the gun in your avatar?
Yes, its the same gun. I got it for $300 used. They sell for a little over $400 new. And now Taurus makes a titanium 7 shot .357mag! I want one of those!

The only problem I have had with my Taurus revolver is when I used Blazer aluminum cased ammo (bad idea), they stick, really bad. But other than that, not a single problem. I have even switched out the hammer spring and trigger return spring for reduced power Wolf springs for a nice light crisp trigger pull (not that it was bad from the factory, actually is was quite nice). If you check out the Taurus website, i think you can get the 608 with a 4,6 or 8 inch barrel. I think the website says it sells for over $500, but I have checked out Sportsmans Warehouse and they had one for WAY cheaper.

I typically take about 15-20% off the MSRP to get actual retail price. If you shop around you can almost always get that price from a retailer and sometimes better. MSRP is just a way to know who is charging you too much, at or above MSRP is too much.

I've had some problems and heard of many more with some of the taurus semi auto's but I have never heard of any problems with their revolvers. A dealer friend of mine said he had to take a bunch of the Mellinium semi autos back to keep some customers happy and both he and the gun smith I use said they have never saw a problem with the revolvers as well. The 608 8 shot is a great gun and the reasonable price is just a bonus.
