Tomorrow is 7 days into the 10 day waiting period for me to pick up a Walther P22 with the short barrel. As this is a somewhat popular buy I believe, I thought I might get some advice.

Is it finicky as to cleaning or feeding particular ammo?

Any tendencies to break? Is the trigger weird? Etc, etc.

Also, while is not my first or second or even third choice for HD, everything here stays loaded, just in case. What is the best .22 round to keep in the magazines? CCI Stingers? Not really up on .22's as I have been working through a brick of Thiunderbolts for a year now with my Ruger 10/22. But for the pistol, I figured I'd by the most advantageous ammo I could get for it during non-plinking duty.

My P22 shoots about everything really well Mine does not like any mixure of CCI stingers and cheepys in the same mag. But will eat each seperatly very well. Clean it up and oil it before your first outing mine had a bit of grease in it when I got it. And blast away I have yet to see anyone that did not enjoy shooting the P22......

And just when I was starting to think that Illinois really sucked...

And I had to make two trips to get it. One for the pistol and another for the ammo because I wasn't going straight home. In Kalifornia it is my understanding that the pistol and the ammo have to be kept locked up and not together while being transported. Hard to do in a pickup truck.

If I was heading straight home I would have risked it and hoped the police were sane about the law. Since I was actually leaving the gun store and going 150 miles away on a side trip, I didn't buy any .22 bullets because if I was stopped, I would have been committing a felony.

Not sure how I'm supposed to drive to a range or the desert with it to shoot it now.... I guess I'll have to buy another car since a pickup truck or motorcycle can't really let me comply with the law.

I am sure the criminals are as careful as you--whata bunch of BS---Damn whatever happened to the right of the average citizen?????I thought it was bad here in Illinois----you have bans on 50 cal. rifles,etc------LET'S ALL MOVE TO A FREE STATE--ANY IDEAS????

Pick a red state. Not trying to be political or anything, just a practical suggestion for anyone wanting to be considered a gunowner instead of a potential criminal.
