Why are the high point pistols so cheap compared to the brand names? Is this because they are not a brand name or is something wrong with their pistols?

In my limited experence with them, having never owned one, I have found them to appear cheap made and of poor quality. I think as far as highpoint goes, you get what you pay for.
Let me also say this is just my opinion.

My dealer told me the slide is made of a zinc alloy. He also claims it burns with use.

I was checking the Case of Temptations at my preferred gun range/store, and muttered "that is the ugliest gun I've seen in a while," to which the guy behind a counter several yards away said, "Oh, you mean the Hi-Point?"

Looks like a cheap sci-fi prop.
