I have an old hi-power (slotted for stock, ser. # 73##) which seems to feed anything, but after approximately 150 rounds it fails to extract. The original barrel showed some pitting, so I replaced it and the extracter (old - 1911 style). But, I'm still having the same problem. Any ideas? Is this why they went to the new extracters?

Yes this is why they went to the new extractors, but it shouldn't fail after 150 rounds. You might want to consider buying one of these. It blends the design of the original extractor with the new style spring loaded extractor. I think you'll like it
