Hey guys,

I have a couple of questions.

1) I am in the market for a revolver or semi. I am buying it to have at home, in the car, and just for fun to shoot at ranges, out in the country, etc.

I also want my wife to be able to handle it. I have narrowed it down to a Glock 17, 19, and a Ruger GP 100 4". My wife and I went to the range and shot a 17 and it was great. The 19 at the range was broken, and they did not rent a Ruger.

My first question is what is the recommendation. I plan to shoot a 19 and a Ruger if I can find one.

2) Where should I buy a gun, and what are good prices for a new 17,19, or gp 100 (4") SS?

Thanks for the advice.....

I don't know the prices off the top of my head, so I can't help you there. I am not a Glock fan. I don't hate them, I just am kind of indifferent. They don't feel good in my hand. I say go for the revolver. The GP is kind of like getting two (or three) guns in one. Mild .38 special for fun and plinking, hot .357 magnums for serious work. There is some middle ground with +P .38 loads. The Ruger GP is very strong revolver that will stand up to a lot of heavy loads. I am a revolver fan. You could always sell it if you don't like it, but I bet you won't. Look into a good .22 rimfire as well. Ruger, S&W, and Browning make good ones that are on sale somewhere all the time. I see a lot of Buckmarks in the sale ads. Fun to shoot, good practice and the cheapest ammo available. If you are going to get into handguns at all, you need a .22.

Might as well start with one since you'll eventually end up with one anyway. Walther also makes a nice .22 that's fun to shoot.
