I am very new to reloading. I've successfully load 5.56 rounds for my AR but am having trouble with .40 S&W for my Glock. I believe the problem is due to either my expander die or loading die setup - or both. About half my reloads have the cases "crushed". They are seated correctly but the case shows a conspicuous crumpling on the side. Anyone have any suggestions? I'll continue to be stubborn and try different die settings but suspect that someone recognizes the problem and can help. I'm using RCBS carbide dies in a Rock Chucker press.

what type of bullets are you using?

are you saying the bullets are crushing the case or the dies are doing it?

if the bullets are crushing the case, its because you dont have enough flare/bell to the case mouth. you have to use just enough so that the base of the bullet is seated into the case.

if your dies are crushing your cases, you have other issues.

if you see a wrinkle in the brass, where the base of the bullet would be, then its normal. but it should be just an outline of the bullet base.

also, fyi, pictures are worth a thousand words.
