I'm looking at a few options for a.454 Casull revolver for hunting. How does the traditional Bisley style grip, such as on the Freedom Arms, compare to the modern ergonomic grip of the Ruger Super RedHawk? I love that the FA comes with a second cylinder for .45 Colt, but the grip feels like it would slip right through my hands when touching off a full house 454 load. I have medium-sized hands, and the Bisley grip feels to me like I'm holding it mostly with my thumb and middle finger. Anyone out there shot both styles to compare? The grip on the FA I am looking at is cheap feeling plastic, so I would replace it (likely with wood). Does the frame allow a more ergonomic grip to be fitted?
