I am new to the forum and can't get the search to function. I just bought a SW99 in .40 S&W. It has the night sights and looks new. I believe it was made in 2003. What are the good and bad of this model? I haven't shot it yet. What are the pros and cons of the different bullet weights? Thanks.

The SW99 is a co-production gun between Smith and Walther. Walther makes the poly receiver to Smith specs and Smith manufactures the slide and barrel. It is different than the Walther P99 version in a few ways.

They are generally regarded as very reliable and decent shooters. If you look at the overall design you can see the resemblance to the Walther P99... Just the slides look different.

Good gun with interchangeable grips.

Thanks for the reply gglass. I paid $350 for it. It is supposed to be a salesman's sample gun. It looks great and feels great. The night sights are neat.
