I currently own two SP101s but neither the 9mm or .357 mag have laser grips. I don't see much need for the porting even with stout loads in the .357 because the weight of the gun and the factory grips absorb recoil exceptionally well given the size of the gun. Porting will reduce muzzle flip but will also give you a muzzle flash from the top of the gun which could be a distraction. I highly recommend the SP101 but personally I'm not a fan of porting or laser grips. In a defensive situation, especially in low light, laser grips give your position away.

My wife has carried a 3" SP101 for 14 years now. About two years ago I got her the Crimson Trace grips. She loves the little laser. They are zeroed in at the factory, but you may have to adjust it depending on the ammo you are shooting.
