Hey guys 2 questions....
Would the Springfield XD 4 inch service model in .40 be ok for concealed carry? http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod- ... vice.shtml

Or, if i went with the Springfield XD 3 inch sub-compact in .40 http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod- ... pact.shtml how is the recoil? with the pistol being so small is the recoil bad?

For concealed carry, the 9mm would do fine if you are worried about recoil. the .40 will jump and bark quite a bit, even in the 4 inch if you are recoil sensitive

Truly, either weapon is fine for concealed carry...more a function of what you prefer, have confidence in and get used to. Recoil management or control in a function of the style of grip you employ..!!

hell yea a XD compact in .40S&W would make a great conceal carry gun. The recoil will be controlable. Unless you have very small hands or bad wrists you should not have any problems. And, if its really only a conceal carry gun and not an everyday plinking gun then recoil shouldn't be as much of a factor as stopping power and comfort of carry. If you can, find a friend with one, or a shooting range that will you rent or barrow or whatever.

Ease of carry is a matter of body size, shape, and method of carry. I can easily and comfortably carry and conceal my XD-40 Tactical model with an inside the waistband holster. Grip length is much more of a factor in concealability and comfort in my experience than barrel length. Sub-compacts are too small for my hands unless an extension is added and then it is no smaller in the grip than the standard models. I think the Duty model XD is a good compromise between ease of carry and ease of handling but others will have differring opinions.
