I hunt big game (elk, deer, antelope ) & I hunt upland birds(forest grouse, chukars & hungarian partridge). My question is: I need a lightweight .44mag sidearm to carry in case my rifle goes out of commission during big game hunting or my shotgun wouldn't be enough medicine if I stumble upon a bear during bird hunting. Does any body own the Taurus Titanium .44mag? If so, what is your opinion of it?

What kind of bear might you stumble across? Just a black bear and a 44 is more than enough. Also depends what type of ammo you are using. Brown bear or Griz- they might find whats left of you with a 44 mag. If you are in REAL bear country a 454 or larger is what you should be looking at.
