I own a Kimber pro carry and a average springfield 1911a1 with no frills. I am now looking for another 1911 jsut because they are wonderful guns; and you can bet it will not be a Kimber. The kimber is a good gun, but it is no better than my springfield. My springfield is jsut as reliable, just as accurate, and will last just as long. Let me explain a little further.

Kimber pro-carry: 4in. barrel, ambi safety, stainless, 4lb skeleton trigger, and competition hammer. $800

Springfield 1911a1: 5in. barrel, parkerized. exactly what was issued in WWII to our soldiers. $450

Hope this helps

I had my eye on a kimber RCOII, that never happened, I had to order it special from them. Money needed to go elsewhere, as so many times before. This is there "Refind carry version" short barrel, a trench cut at top of slide, all carry melted. bobbed hammer. All black with grips cut with like 4 verticle lines running up and down. They only make a limmited run on these. Maybe some day?. Also you cant go wrong with a springfeild loaded version of thier .45. This is a full 5" version. For the money you get a gun compatable to a custom shop will offer. I do have a ss version of one, wearing Rattle snake eastern pattern grips. This is a great shooting, and looking gun. There you have the long and the short of it. take care Jack

You must be refering to the Micro in 9mm. I also have my eye on this one. Smallest 1911 type 9mm. If it is anything like my 1911 full size loaded, new owners should be very happy. Those new springfeild grips with their logo in them are nice. I like to get a pair of them. Only thing, micros price is a little high. Maybe it will come down in future? My luck they will stop making them and price will rise. Although they had to retool everything to make it. So i could understand for the higher greenbacks. Go easy, Johnny

Springfield would be a good choice.

$450 used would be a steal. What ever the case, you would never loose any $$$ on down the road should your desires/needs change.

Have you made your choice yet?

Other than the 1911 I used in the Army, I have only shot one other 1911, and that was a friends Kimber Pro Eclipse. I was impressed enough that I just went out and put a Kimber Ultra Covert on layaway. That is pretty impressive since the only other handguns I have bought in the last 12 years have been Glocks (a 19, 23, and 30). I can't wait to pick mine up. Good luck on your decision.
