What's the deal on wolf ammo. I bought a box of .223's of wolf to see how it works. It worked fine but that was out of a bolt action rifle. I was wondering how it works out of a 1911. Does the coating on the steel affect the gun any bit?
It'll run fine, but the steel cases are hard on extractors. For most modern autoloaders, it's best to stick with brass cases, and run Wolf in guns with beefy extractors (CZ rifles, anything combloc...)
I read in John Farnam's quips that it's the only thing economical to shoot in South Africa, and they anticipate replacing extractors (even on hardy guns like Glocks) every 2000 rounds.
